Rust Converter Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The Neutrarust 661® Rust Converter and Primer is an easy to apply, unique, corrosion control system developed for use on rusted ferrous metal surfaces. Once applied, the surface is quickly converted on contact to a black, complex organic iron compound by the unique deoxygenating agent in Neutrarust.
This long-term corrosion-resistant layer is formed by utilising all the surface moisture and oxygen during the reduction reaction. This improves surface protection, preventing the metal from corrosion through moisture and air. It works best on hard rust
Neutrarust 661® Rust Converter and Primer is ideal cars, boats, trailers, pipes, iron railings, fences, metal sheets, drilling rigs storage tanks etc. Rust converters can also be used to preserve iron-based items with historical value.
For best results, we recommend applying 2 coats of Neutrarust 661® to ensure complete coverage. You need to wait for approx. 30 minutes for drying, before applying the second coat of rust converter. Do not allow the coating to get wet whilst drying. Then, wait for between 24-48hours for the curing to fully set before finally applying paint.
Allow curing for between 24-48 hours depending on temperature and humidity before applying an overcoat.
Neutrarust 661® converts rust to a primer finish, meaning a primer is not necessarily required. The continuous chemical curing of Neutrarust 661® forms a chemical bond with the metal interface, pacifying, neutralising and chemically converting rust. The black chemical compound layer is completely neutral and can be used as a primer.
It is recommended to paint over a rust converter. Important to allow the Neutrarust 661® to dry and cure 100% before applying your paint.
